The Witness Protection Program
– 2012 Vintage –
Our two Witness Tree Vintage Select wines and one of our premium single block wines are offered on a futures basis at the winery on every Memorial Day Weekend.
We refer to this as our:
“Witness Protection Program”
What this means is that on this weekend, you get to taste the vintage that will be released next year directly from the barrel in which it is now aging. If you agree with us that this selection is something you definitely want to have in your wine cellar, you join the Program. You purchase a case or half case of the wine right now at a significant discount. Full cases may also be split between the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
You will then be invited to a party sometime around Thanksgiving Day to pick up your wine. At that point, this wine will not yet have been released to the general public. In addition, each year you will also be invited to an exclusive tasting of the following year’s selection of Witness Protection Program wines, (usually sometime just before the big weekend). This is an opportunity to mingle with other members without the crush of the Memorial Day visitors without aliases.
Experience has shown that some of the vintages of these wines were in scarce supply within months of their release. Not only are you assured of your share of a great vintage, but you also obtain your wine at a price far below that which will be required after release.

2012 Witness Tree “Vintage Select” CHARDONNAY
Our “Vintage Select” Chardonnay comes from the first 16 rows of vines located just out front of the winery. Planted in 1982, these vines represent some of the oldest vines on the property. This 2012 designate represents a four-barrel blend and offers aromas reminiscent of apple, pear and even a hint of butterscotch. Very rich on the palate, the flavors are rich and yet clean, and are very well balanced by bright acidity. The finish lingers on and on.

2012 Witness Tree “Vintage Select” PINOT NOIR
The 2012 “Vintage Select” Pinot Noir blend is a combination of lots from several of the “sweet spots” here on the Witness Tree property. When choosing the barrels, we are looking for different “voices” that we feel will harmonize into a unified whole. This blend offers a nose filled with aromas of crushed red fruit earth and spice. These are echoed in the mouth, with appropriate dusty tannin in the finish. You won’t want to miss this one.

2012 Witness Tree “Hanson” PINOT NOIR
It is with great pleasure that we offer you the 2012 “Hanson” Pinot Noir designate. Extremely dark in color, the 2012 “Hanson” offers explosive aromas of red and black fruits, vanilla and exotic spices and just a hint of earth. On the palate, intense fruit flavors are complimented by a kiss of new French oak, tannin, and acidity. The wine is powerful and yet offers great balance–the classic “iron fist in a velvet glove”.
